Every Pixel
— all possible combinationsThe Infinite Canvas
A finite grid, an astronomically large space.
Tiny patterns become a universe of possibilities.
For a 16×16 black-and-white grid, there are 2^256 possible arrangements. Most are random-looking static, but that space also contains recognizable shapes: characters, simple pixel art, symbols, and countless surprising forms. Even alien-looking symbols or images must be in there if they are representable at this resolution. This project explores that enormous set one deterministic frame at a time.
In a 16×16 binary grid, every monochrome icon and symbol is somewhere in the set.
Letters, logos, tiny pixel scenes, and abstract textures all show up as valid combinations.
Most combinations look like noise, but meaningful patterns still exist and are reproducible.
Every 16×16 black-and-white QR-style pattern, past, present, or future, is somewhere in the set.
Sequential Cycle

Notable Patterns
Proof that meaningful images exist within the sequence
At 80ms per frame, cycling through all 8×8 combinations would take roughly 46 billion years — over three times the age of the universe.
